No, I’m not talking about sniffing people’s butts, or eating poo. I don’t mean I’d like to abandon my personal hygiene and eat kibbles every night for dinner.
What I mean is, I don’t want to be a dog, but live like a dog. As well as brightening up our lives, dogs also provide many valuable lessons on how to live and love.
What living like a dog would look like:
* Love would be fierce, loyal, unconditional and unwavering.
* Forgiveness would come easily and wholeheartedly. There would be no grudges or resentment, just a liberating ability to shake it off and move on.
* Giving and showing affection would be second nature. Greeting loved ones enthusiastically every single time, making them feel like the most adored human being in the world.
* Actions would speak louder than words – just through eyes and body language, two people could connect and communicate their feelings and allow each other to see their vulnerability.
* Live for the moment and live with joy; we won’t be weighed down and burdened by past or future worries.
* Take joy in the simple pleasures that life has to offer and be up for any adventure that may come our way.
* Protect those we love with all that we are.
* Look past outward appearances and see the beauty of a person’s soul.
* Be a good judge of character and be able to sense danger.
* Live authentically, and never try to be someone we’re not.
What else could we learn from our four-legged companions about how to live a good and meaningful life?
Here are some photos of my precious pooches (Leila and Larry)- life wouldn’t be the same without them!
