Mirror, mirror, on the wall, why is it that I feel so small?

I was a teenager when I used this well-known mantra to write my own version. Feeling comfortable in my own skin was a foreign concept to me. If only I had the ability to slither out of my too-tight skin and re-create myself into a better version.

If only…if only…if only…

How many of us say that to ourselves? Our mind tells us that if we could change the things we dislike about ourselves, we would be more comfortable with who we are.

The thing is, though, that even if we were able to recreate ourselves, I think the problem would still exist. Unless your thoughts and perception of yourself changes, you will never feel comfortable in your own skin.

You will never be good enough in your eyes unless you believe you are enough.

It all comes down to

Self-love.
Self-worth.
Self-acceptance.
Self-esteem.

When you lack these things, taking charge of your thoughts can feel like an impossible task.

For those of us who struggle with this, know that you are not alone. Know that you are a unique, one of a kind, never to be repeated human being.

Like your fingerprint, it is a part that is hidden, never noticed…but it is there. Look closely and you’ll see it – the intricate pattern that makes you who you are.
